Clarification

I know I could’ve just linked to Tina’s follow up on the Blog Scandal but it is just too juicy too not copy and paste!

This is an email from her contact in the Prime Minister’s Office; our relevant authority in this case.

Salam to you Tina

Thank you for writing to us regards to the query of weblogs. Officially, there is an act under Broadcasting Act revised in 2002. Under the Internet Code of Practice for blogs registered in Brunei, of which attached with this e-mail, is to safeguard Nation’s interests for security, racial harmony, religious and public morality.

Basically you can talk anything under the sky except topics which related to Royal Family and any topic that could/would jeopardising the National’s stability in the 4 areas mentioned above in bold.

Registered in Brunei means the blog is based in Brunei Darussalam.

The Newspaper Act also has similar code of practice. However the Broadcasting Act is more relevant in this situation.

Blogging is NOT a crime, it is a crime only when you breach the law/act of Brunei Darussalam pertaining to above topics.

I hope this will ease you up and blog away. Spread the words on this. I will forward you the complete Broadcasting Act for you to attached in your blog for safe keeping.

Thank you

First of all, this letter, though it has its faults, which is more the result of the fact that it is an informal letter, is more credible than that of MK Anwar’s front page article. And because I am a bitter person, I would just like to rub it in even further to Borneo Bulletin the lack of research their front page journalist had bothered to put in their writings.

TABLOID.

  1. Its the same guy who wrote the misleading article on Brudirect being hacked among other things. He’s just one of the many so-called “reporters” who hardly does any research other writing things from his ass.
